TV_off

Enough is enough already with this thing called TV. It's become an all-consuming (and controlling) Orwellian big brother contraption that simply needs to go away. Whatever potential it had to inform, educate and entertain, has been co-opted by the corporate gods and ruling elite into a dumbing-down device that messmerizes and issues commands to a bunch of videots who watch it for hours and hours each day.

The masses of television-worshipers in the U.S. get their instructions daily from the boob tube on what to wear, what to say, what to talk about, who is beautiful, who is popular, who is their latest leader... TURN IT OFF ALREADY!

"But I only watch it for news, sports or those 'learning' channels," you say. Give me a break! What news? CNN anchors reading press releases from the White House, Pentagon and consumer product pushers? Sports -- now that's a good one... Congratulations, your star athlete on steroids just ran, threw or bounced a little ball. Yippie! And, you got to love those educational shows about cops, robbers, murderers, prisons, wars and people doing stupid things (and getting paid for it).

This controlling contrivance in the hands of the manipulators of minds is responsible for all of this country's wars, unrest, suffering and economic woes. Not always by cheerleading the fascists on (like in the bloody Iraq massacre for oil); but worse, by not covering the numerous stories and misadventures of the politicians and corporate elite. TV, and now the internet, have become the primary source of information for the average person. And when the people are not informed of an action of consequence, an important event, or popular opinions of the masses that disagree with the 'rulers' propoganda; then the media itself is guilty of collaboration by omission -- the most popular form of corporate-government control.

There is little the average person can do about the media's control of the flow of information, other than believe nothing you hear and only half what you read (or see).
