--In
1970 there were 100 million (100,000,000) LESS people in the
U.S. as there are now. Back in 1920, the population was only
one third of what it is today. And by 2030, projections show
another increase of 100 million.
--
What does this
have to do with anything? It has everything to do with
everything.
--
Because our
population will double in our lifetime, means there will be
greater demand on fresh water, food, land, energy, trees,
etc. That's less of everything to go around; which
ultimately translates into higher prices for the whole
shebang.
It also means that
the depletion of natural resources will accelerate while
pollution and greenhouse gases will increase.
--
This important
component to social planning is often overlooked by
economists, developers, and of course the politicians.
--
If we don't push for
free energy, serious healthcare reform, better city planning
and resource management; this house of cards will collapse
in the next decade or so. It's already begun, and no one is
paying attention to it.
--
The news media would
rather focus on Disney child stars and dime-store preachers
than to challenge people's minds with the real issues of
today.
